Our Best Tips for Perfect Summer Coffee
To elevate your summer coffee to new heights, there are a few simple tricks you can use. Good coffee always starts with good ingredients and the right technique.
- Use quality beans: The foundation of all good coffee is the beans. Choose freshly roasted quality beans with a flavor profile you enjoy. Fruity and floral coffees from, for example, Ethiopia or Kenya are often excellent for cold coffee drinks.
- Grind your own coffee: To get the most flavor and aroma, we always recommend grinding coffee right before brewing. For cold brew, you need a coarse grind, almost like for cowboy coffee.
- Make coffee ice cubes: Prevent your iced coffee from getting watery! Brew some extra strong coffee, cool it, and freeze it in ice cube trays. These coffee ice cubes will keep your drink cold without diluting the delicious coffee flavor.
- Experiment with flavors: Don't be afraid to try things out! Add a splash of vanilla syrup, a pinch of cinnamon, or garnish with fresh berries or a slice of citrus fruit to give your drink your own personal touch.
Which coffee should you choose?
The choice of coffee significantly impacts the final result. For cold drinks, we recommend coffees that have a natural sweetness and a fresh, fruity character. Here are some of our favorites that are perfect for summer recipes:
- For Cold Brew and Cold Brew Tonic: Try a light-roasted coffee from Ethiopia, such as from our menu here. It often has clear notes of berries and citrus that come out beautifully in a cold brew.
- For Iced Latte and Milkshake: A coffee with a bit more body and sweetness is perfect here. Our Østmarka with its chocolate notes is an excellent choice that balances well with milk.
-
For Espresso Tonic: Here, an espresso with high acidity and complexity will shine. A washed coffee from Kenya, such as from our menu, will provide a lively and exciting taste experience with tonic. Also brewed as cold brew.
